Goddess worship and glorifying the “divine feminine” are growing in popularity. With this growth has come a shifting of feminism from a mostly political movement to one that is increasingly spiritual in its essence. It is enticing women to not only rebel from God’s created order, but to grasp onto various assumptions of personal divinity that are consistent with Eastern mysticism and paganism. This delusion is having far-reaching effects on how women relate to men, to motherhood, and, most dangerously, to God. Much of the power of anti-patriarchy sentiments originates in this movement, and with that a new kind of active resistance to the gospel.
Before her 2017 conversion to Christianity, Doreen Virtue worshiped goddesses, including female Roman Catholic “saints,” multi-cultural feminine goddesses, and was even a kind of “evangelist” for the movement. Tragically, she wrote books and divination cards celebrating goddesses – and some of these publications are still in circulation because they’d been licensed out and others still sell them despite her written requests for them to stop.

Doreen holds a Master’s degree with highest honors from Western Seminary, and a Master’s in counseling psychology from Chapman University.
